M&S is bringing back an iconic Christmas drink which has been off the shelves since 2022.
Shoppers will be delighted to be able to buy the supermarket’s original snow globe gin liqueur again – but there is a twist.
The bottles of M&S gin liqueur have been a festive staple for the major supermarket for years.
And due to the drink’s popularity, back in 2020 customers were given a limit and told they could only buy two at a time.
M&S didn’t sell the liqueur last year, but it is now bringing the iconic drink back.
Previously, the gin came in two flavours – Clementine and Spiced Sugar Plum – but this year, only the Clementine one will be sold.
In past years, a 70cl bottle cost £16, but now the price has gone up to £20 – and the bottle also comes in a new gifting box.
The sugar plum bottles lit up with a cool white glow, illuminating a festive figure skater on the design of the glass.
The clementine gin had a warm orange light that lit up behind the nutcracker design on the bottle.
When customers were given a two-bottle limit four years ago, some were angered at the supermarket’s decision and took to social media to express their disappointment.
An angry shopper asked M&S on X, formerly called Twitter: “Why is there a limit on the snow globe gin at Coventry but not anywhere else?”
At the time, M&S told The Sun there was a limit in place at all stores so that as many customers as possible could get hold of the drink.
Back in 2021, the drink was also at the centre of a legal action M&S launched against Aldi, accusing the rival supermarket of selling a “copycat” version of the iconic gin.
Aldi’s snow globe gin was launched in October 2021 – and cost £6 less than the M&S version.
The Infusionist Glitter Glove Gin Liqueurs came in two flavours, clementine or sweet blackberry.
After Aldi’s bottles hit the shelves, M&S claimed that customers could mistake Aldi Infusionist Glitter Globe Gin Liqueurs for its own.
After a lengthy court case, Aldi was found guilty of infringing upon the M&S design.
In 2022, Aldi launched three new bottle designs, two of which light up, each with a flurry of 23-carat gold flakes.
The bottle designs were different from M&S’s snow globe, as one of them featuring a Christmas tree, another resembled a snowflake and a third one was a rounded shape.
How to save on your supermarket shop
THERE are plenty of ways to save on your grocery shop.
You can look out for yellow or red stickers on products, which show when they’ve been reduced.
If the food is fresh, you’ll have to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.
Making a list should also save you money, as you’ll be less likely to make any rash purchases when you get to the supermarket.
Going own brand can be one easy way to save hundreds of pounds a year on your food bills too.
This means ditching “finest” or “luxury” products and instead going for “own” or value” type of lines.
Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they’re misshapen or imperfect.
For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.
If you’re on a low income and a parent, you may be able to get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers to use at the supermarket too.
Plus, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.
Among this year’s festive highlights at M&S, shoppers can buy a bottle of white mulled wine for £6 – a twist on the class red mulled wine.
The supermarket also launched its Turkey Feast dip and Turkey Feast lasagne to delight your taste buds over the holidays.
For cheese lovers, M&S is selling its Hot Honey Brie Brulee for £7 as well as Halloumi in Blankets with Hot Honey – a vegetarian take on the classic pigs in blankets – for £5.50.
It comes as M&S announced plans to open its first-ever clothing-only shop in the autumn.
The shop will be located in London’s Battersea Power Station and will open to shoppers in November.
