Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief Charity Dissolved Following Years of Humanitarian Support

Must read

Following the discovery of financial misconduct at the model’s charity, Fashion for Relief, by a UK watchdog group, Naomi Campbell will be prohibited from holding charitable trustee positions for a period of five years. In a report that was made public on Thursday, the Charity Commission of the United Kingdom stated that the charity was poorly governed and had inadequate financial management.

According to its investigation, the charity devoted less than 9% of its profits to grants and charitable causes, and certain of its expenditures were deemed to be not reasonable. Besides security for the 54-year-old Campbell during a 2018 Cannes Film Festival event, this also includes a stay at a five-star hotel and spa treatments, room service, and the purchase of cigarettes.

Bianka Hellmich and Veronica Chou, two of Campbell’s co-trustees, were also disqualified from trusteeship for terms of nine and four years, respectively. Following an investigation by the Charity Commission, it was discovered that Hellmich had received over £290,000, or over $388,000, in unapproved consulting fees.

The commission observed that Fashion for Relief had failed to manage its relationships with the Mayor’s Fund for London and Save the Children Fund. In order to make unpaid payments to the charities totaling approximately £345,000, or more than $460,000, the commission hired interim managers.

Naomi Campbell is still recognizable and outshines Anna Wintour at the Fashion Row event in Harlem. Tim Hopkins, deputy director of the Charity Commission, said in a statement that the investigation and the work of the interim managers we hired to manage the charity in lieu of the trustees had led to the recovery of £34400 and the preservation of an additional £98,000 in charitable funds. He is pleased that the inquiry has seen donations made to other charities that this charity has previously supported.

The renowned British supermodel established Fashion For Relief in 2005. According to the organization’s website, it has supported many important humanitarian causes, such as Time’s Up and the Ebola crisis.
