Christmas may still be 37 days away, but Amazon and Asda have got an early present for their loyal customers.

The retail giants announced that they’re teaming up to create a hassle-free collect and return system.

You can now pick up and send back your Amazon orders at your nearest Asda, using a dedicated counter currently available at more than 700 stores.

The new service is sure to save time – and stress – this Christmas, as you can easily collect those Christmas gifts you’ve ordered for friends and family, without worrying about missing the postman.

As well as being a time saver, the new initiative also has perks for the environment, as it aims to reduce the need for additional shipping boxes thanks to it’s label-free, box-free returns.

After generating a QR code on the Amazon website, you return your item in to Asda, where the team will pack and ship it off at no extra cost.

Chris Hall, vice president of logistics at Asda, said the collaboration is yet another exciting development for the supermarket chain, which prioritises its customers’ ‘ever-evolving needs’.

‘This collaboration with Amazon just in time for Christmas marks another landmark moment, not just for our larger stores, but our ever-expanding Asda Express convenience estate,’ he said.

‘By bringing essential services like Amazon parcel pickup and return drop-offs closer to where our customers live and work, we’re able to provide greater convenience to more of the communities we serve across the UK.’

Meanwhile, John Boumphrey, Amazon’s UK Country Manager, said the collaboration is not only hassle-free but also easy for customers to use.

‘This collaboration with Asda makes it even easier for customers to pick up ordered items when they’re shopping or make hassle-free returns at more than 700 locations around the country,’ he said.

Amazon still offers its current return processes, which include dropping your package off at a Post Office, Hermes Drop-off point, or UPS store.

It’s yet another exciting move by the online retailer after they announced last week that they are introducing a new outlet called Amazon Haul, which is set to rival competitors like Temu and Shein, who are dedicated to affordable, trending items.

The outlet will initially only be available in the US, and feature products at ‘crazy low prices’, with everything priced at under $20 (£15.78) or less. The majority of buys sit at under $10 (£7.89), and some are as low as $1 (79p).

With the budget friendly prices comes a catch though as the company won’t be offering Prime delivery on their Haul range, but instead its typical delivery times of approximately one to two weeks.

The good news is that shoppers who spend $25 (£19.73) or more qualify for free delivery, while smaller orders incur a shipping fee of $3.99 (£3.15).
