USA have done it! They have held off the Brazilians and reclaim the Olympic gold medal in women’s football.
This is their fifth gold out of eight since women’s football became an Olympic sport – but their first since London 2012.
Having crashed out of last summer’s World Cup early, this is redemption for the States and a huge moment for Emma Hayes – a trophy in just her 10th game as USA manager.
Tom Cruise is among those on their feet to applaud the Olympic champions at Parc des Princes.
