When planning a trip, finding a destination known for its friendly atmosphere can make all the difference.
The UK is home to numerous towns and cities, each with its unique charm and attractions, but the warmth of a place often enhances the travel experience.
A recent study, commissioned by LNER, has delved into which cities stand out for their welcoming vibe by analysing data from the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS).
It took into account residents’ well-being and reviewed five-star accommodations and dining options, and particularly highlighted the cities that truly shine in hospitality.
Coming in second place, was Brighton, which boasts a vibrant and diverse community that creates an inclusive atmosphere where people from all walks of life feel welcome.
Locals often take pride in their city, showcasing a genuine enthusiasm for sharing its unique offerings, from quirky shops to delicious eateries.
And visitors seem to appreciate that, with many taking to TripAdvisor to highlight the friendliness among locals.

“They are much more friendly than your typical Londoner, tend to walk to the beat of their own drum, if you know what I mean.
“The music and arts scene is amazing ( plus there is over 326 pubs).
“The atmosphere is always vibrant and people tend to show a kindness and openness towards one another.”
Javadikashani commented: “There’s a nice boardwalk and a handful of great little restaurants and bars/clubs along the way… Everyone is super friendly.
“VERY gay friendly too… it feels like a mix between San Francisco and Santa Monica (if you’re from California and feeling homesick… really great place to go).”
