Philippe Clement on John Souttar injury
Speaking to BBC Scotland ahead of the game, Clement said: “John Souttar will be injured for several weeks. He’s not in the squad.”
The Rangers manager then expanded on the situation in an interview with Premier Sports.
“It’s a big miss because he has been massive this season,” said Clement. “Not only for us, but for Scotland also.
“Then it’s about others standing up and doing their job. That’s the world of football, these things can happen.
“We have to count on others now to come in and do the same job.”
Rangers go with experienced duo v Celtic
Rangers have started with Leon Balogun and Robin Propper for the League Cup Final clash at Hampden.
Rangers will now have to prioritise a centre-back in the January window with the club’s options in the positions increasingly limited.
It’s all eyes on Hampden now with Robin Propper in particular set to go through one of the biggest tests of his Rangers career to date.
Veteran Nigerian centre-back Leon Balogun will also have to be at the top of his game as Rangers look to defend their trophy against Old Firm rivals Celtic.
