In a tragic incident that has shaken the local community and tourists alike, the roof of the Medusa Beach Club in Playa de Palma, Majorca, Spain, collapsed shortly after 8pm on Thursday.
The collapse caused both floors of the establishment to cave in, leading to a scene of devastation.
The bustling beach club, filled with dozens of tourists and workers enjoying the early evening, was suddenly transformed into a scene of horror.
The collapse left four people dead, with 16 injured – seven of those are in a critical condition. One of those who died has been named as Abdoulaye Diop, a Senegalese migrant worker who was working as a nightclub bouncer.

Neighbours, alarmed by the noise, quickly alerted emergency services. Local Police, 061 emergency responders, National Police, and Firefighters arrived promptly to manage the chaotic and urgent situation.
The emergency teams began a relentless search and rescue operation. Despite their efforts, four people were confirmed dead, and the number of injured climbed to 16.

Among the injured, seven are in critical condition, suffering severe injuries that threaten their lives.
Ambulances swiftly transported the injured to local hospitals, while on-site medical personnel attended to those with less severe injuries, providing thermal blankets for shock and exposure.
The scene was described as one of intense activity, with emergency crews working through the night to ensure no one remained trapped under the rubble.

Javier, a resident of Playa de Palma, witnessed the tragedy unfold. “It was like a bomb. The terrace of a restaurant collapsed on the ground floor of the building when it was full of people,” he recounted.
The building, consisting of two floors and a basement, posed a challenging search area, with concerns that workers could still be buried beneath the debris. Silence was maintained to aid the rescue efforts, and the area was cordoned off to keep order and facilitate efficient work.
