Police News In Brief – September 2024

Tuesday 24 September
Doncaster East Neighbourhood Police Team say an Audi a5 was located in Thorne today (Tues 24 Sept) which had been reported stolen from an address in Goole. Officers say after “some good cross-border work” and linking in with colleagues from Humberside they were able to locate the vehicle and recover it for forensic examination.

The neighbourhood team say officers across South Yorkshire and neighbouring force areas are investigating an increase in ‘Hanoi burglaries’, where burglars break into a house to steal car keys and drive away with a vehicle.

Sunday 22 September
Doncaster East Neighbourhood Police Team worked alongside South Yorkshire Police’s Off-Road Bike Team “to tackle the ongoing issue of off-road bikes accessing local parks”.

A spokesperson for the neighbourhood team said: “Using specialist bikes, drone officers, and the neighbourhood teams local knowledge we patrolled areas such as Dunscroft, Stainforth and Armthorpe.

“It didn’t take long before off-road motorbikes were sighted on Unity Way near Junction 5 of the M18. This is a regular problem area with bikes using the road to access the pit top area.

“We used drones to record the bikes and take images for identification purposes.”

Police say off-road bikes continue to be a “regular issue” on the East of Doncaster, and that the subject is often raised at local engagement meetings.

Anyone with information regarding the use of off-road bikes can report online, by calling 101, or anonymously at CrimeStoppers
