Despite being lucky enough in the UK, travelling to another part of the continent only takes a few hours by plane.
However, have you noticed that certain cities are often overcrowded?
Of course, it is no wonder that certain capital cities are the hub of culture, history and art. However, some places are more populated than others.
New research by a luxury travel company, The Thinking Traveller has been revealed. The team have ranked the most overcrowded tourist attractions in Europe in case you want to avoid the crowds on your next holiday.
Researchers looked at Tripadvisor reviews, by finding locations with the mentions of “crowded” and “busy” to determine the results.
And it doesn’t look good for the UK as four of its tourist attractions made the top 10. Let’s take a look at the results in more detail.

The research found that Edinburgh Castle was the most overcrowded place to visit in Europe. Almost two million people visited the historic Scottish site, in 2023 alone.
Meanwhile, 70 percent of those holidaying in the Scottish capital visited the castle during their stay.
London has three of its attractions in the top 10 – Buckingham Palace, Tower of London and The British Museum.
So, if you plan on visiting these tourist attractions anytime soon, you might want to be prepared for the number of visitors who will also be attending.
