The Princess of Wales has accidentally revealed a secret alias that she occasionally uses during shopping trips.
This incident occurred shortly after her wedding to Prince William in 2011 when the couple resided in Wales where he was stationed as a search and rescue pilot at RAF Valley.
Kate was often spotted doing the food shopping at the local Waitrose supermarket and browsing other shops and during one trip to a shop, which was known as Funsport, the 42-year-old experienced an embarrassing yet relatable mishap – she had to give the shopkeeper a secret name.
Shopkeeper Dave Buckland – who was unaware of who Kate was at the time – then asked her for her name when she enquired if she could reserve the wetsuit to pick up later when she had money with her, reported the Mirror.
As playful reference to her previous title as the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate told him that she was called “Mrs Cambridge” – something that left the shopkeeper none the wiser.
A source told the publication in 2012: “He was looking straight at her and actually commented that it was quite an unusual surname. He hadn’t a clue who she was.
“She just smiled and said she’d be back. He hasn’t lived it down since.”
During a follow-up embarrassing outing, an insider previously revealed to HELLO! that Kate had forgotten to bring socks for George and Charlotte to try on with their school shoes back in 2018.
Much like a typical mum, Kate had to ask the store to lend them socks so she could ensure the shoes fit perfectly.
