Must read

Bellator Champion Series returned this Saturday (22nd June 2024) to Dublin Ireland. Jason Jackson was set to defend his Welterweight title against Ramazan Kuramagomedov. Jason Jackson was able to clinch the title back in November 2023. This was when he was able to get the stoppage victory against Yaroslav Amosov. Jackson then was able to defeat Ray Cooper III at PFL vs Bellator. Ramazan Kuramagomedov has been able to get this opportunity after back-to-back stoppage victories. These victories were against Jaleel Willis and Randall Wallace.

Ramazan Kuramagomedov Clinched the Welterweight Title

There is an old saying which goes it’s not how you start but how you finish. However, this is not always true and Ramazan Kuramagomedov’s performance at Bellator Champion Series in Dublin is a testament to this.

Ramazan Kuramagomedov was able to make his childhood dream a reality as he was able to claim a unanimous decision. Kuramagomedov was able to get this unanimous decision victory after a strong first 3 rounds. This victory meant he was able to clinch the Bellator welterweight title at the 3Arena.

Kuramagomedov was able to control Jason Jackson on the ground for much of the first 15 minutes of the fight. While Kuramagomedov was able to control him on the ground he was also effective with inside leg kicks which seemed to bother Jason Jackson. This meant Jackson wasn’t able to close the distance as easily as he may have wanted.

However, Jason Jackson went for a different approach in the fight for the final two rounds. During the 4th round, Jason Jackson was able to secure an early takedown and was able to control the round just like Kuramagomedov was able to do early in the fight. In the final round, Jackson was once again able to get a takedown. While on the ground he was able to look to lock on a guillotine choke near the cage however, he wasn’t able to secure this.

While Jason Jackson’s effort was enough to secure the last two rounds it wasn’t enough to be able to win the fight. Kuramagomedov was able to stay undefeated and improve to 13-0 while also clinching the Bellator Welterweight Title.
