The big games keep coming for Philippe Clement and it feels like Rangers are at a crossroads ahead of the Premier Sports Cup final against Celtic.
Win, and the manager will regain the trust of many of those who wrote him off, lose, and he will back to square one despite the recent resurgence.
Competition for places in the squad is fiercer than it has been for some time with Rangers fans sweating on the fitness of John Souttar and Hamza Igamane.
Rangers boss provides injury update for John Souttar and Hamza Igamane
Souttar had to be helped off the pitch by Dr Mark Waller and the medical staff with star of the show Igamane needing treatment before being replaced by Cyriel Dessers.
Thankfully, it looks like Souttar is the only concern ahead of what could be a pivotal moment in Clement’s Rangers career:
“I first need to get the assessment of the doctor and that’s not yet clear so I can’t say anything,” said Clement.
“But I know that John will do everything to play that game. He’s very motivated always for that and for the club and about winning trophies. So I know he will give his best but it needs to be something that is possible.”
Does Clement get sacked if he doesn’t bring trophy back to Ibrox?
The league table doesn’t lie, and the Scottish Premiership is the primary objective every season for Rangers.
If Clement guides his team to another league cup trophy, it won’t just be a positive in terms of winning silverware, it will show that he can beat Celtic.
Clement’’s chances of turning the tide in his favour rest on this game, whether he likes it or not.
Patrick Stewart is inheriting a busy workload as CEO and the last thing he will want to do is have to make a decision about the future of the manager too.
