A British Challenger-2 tank has been destroyed in a battle inside Russia’s Kursk region for the first time, say pro-Putin war reporters.
Epic war footage shows a huge battlefield explosion as the alleged UK tank was reportedly deployed by the Ukrainian 82nd Brigade.
The Challenger-2 was hit by a low-flying Russian Lancet-3 kamikaze drone, according to Svarshchiki – or Welders – Telegram channel.
It was struck near Sudzha on Ukraine-occupied Russian territory.
“Our technically savvy operator jewelled the Lancet-3 into the upper hemisphere with a dive of the upper hull armour plate,” the channel said.
Another channel Operatsia Z – Voenkory Russkoy Vesny reported: “After a precision strike, the British tank’s ammunition detonated, completely destroying it….
“This is the first time that the Challenger 2 in service with the AFU has been destroyed by a UAV on our front.
“The power of the Lancet has been proven, and the enemy has suffered serious losses.”
“You can notice the characteristic detonation of propellant charges, which in the Challenger, unlike other modern tanks of the Western tank design school, are openly located on the floor of the fighting compartment,” reported Voenniy Osvedomitel Telegram channel.
There has been no independent confirmation of the Russian claims over the Challenger-2.
