A group of teens from Toxteth are being showcased in an exhibition of style and fashion photography. Tiber, a group of young producers, artists and curators aged 13-18 from Lodge Lane in Toxteth have teamed up with Tate Liverpool for the exhibition.

The display features portraits of Tiber young producers wearing their own designs, created with the support of fashion designer Andrew Ibi, and includes reflections on their experiences of community, where they feel most powerful in their own lives, what it is like to be a teenager in 2024 and how young people can work together to create positive change.

‌

The teenagers have designed and created all parts of the exhibition, creating their outfits, working with Liverpool-based clothing store CRICKET to style their designs, art directing their photo shoot and curating their exhibition space. They are also exhibiting behind-the-scenes footage and photography showing their journey throughout the project.

Photographer Emma Case, who worked creating the exhibition with the youngsters, told the ECHO: “The group has been incredible and it’s been an absolute joy working with them. With all the trouble over the last few weeks I feel this is such a positive story about community and young people.

“Most of the group are from ethnically diverse backgrounds and have been directly affected as their parents have felt the need to keep them at home as it didn’t feel safe, so having this project and meeting every week has been a real life saver over the summer for them.
