Job Title

Senior Development Manager, 12 Months Fixed Term

Contract and Hours

Fixed-term, full-time, 36.25 hours / 5 days per week, generally worked from Monday to Friday with flexibility required for evening and weekend working as required.

Crafts Council aims to support flexible working and part time arrangements where it is appropriate for the role.

We also welcome applications from freelance consultants and organisations who can offer an alternative approach to the delivery of the role, responsibilities and targets linked to this position.

Salary

£45,000 to £50,000 gross per annum based on full time working and depending on experience.

Location

Crafts Council Office and Gallery is based In Islington, London.

Role to Commence

As soon as possible from July 2024 onwards.

Reporting to

Executive Director

Responsible for

Account Executive (sponsorship) Development Co-ordinator, freelance consultants, including bid writers and sponsorship and partnership support.

Working with

Project leads and teams across the organisation, including Collections and Programme, Learning and Participation, Crafts and Collect.

Fundraising and sponsorship and partnership strategy development and delivery will involve working closely with Executive Director and Collect Fair Director and Head of Enterprise.

About the Role

The Senior Development Manager is responsible for overseeing our income growth, managing freelance bid writers, sponsorship and partnership consultants, stewarding and growing our patrons scheme; managing an account executive and development coordinator, and supporting our project teams to help shape activities for funding.

You will be responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with sponsors, trusts and foundations, and overseeing all delivery, reporting and monitoring for secured funds.

Job Requirements

Role Objectives

The postholder will:

  • Work with the senior leadership team to review and develop our income generation strategy, timeline and targets
  • Liaise with project leads across the organisation to understand needs and opportunities and capitalise on these
  • Cultivate & secure corporate partners, meeting agreed targets
  • Oversee pipeline of funding bids
  • Maintain and grow relationships with patrons
  • Motivate and support the team (staff and freelance consultants) to meet income goals and cultivate strong relationships
  • Ensure effective reporting across all income streams
  • Deliver programme of high-quality stewardship for all Crafts Council funders, sponsors and donors
  • Service a fledgling development board

Job Responsibilities

Main Duties

The postholder will:

  • Develop, promote and articulate the case for support for Crafts Council to funders and stakeholders
  • Cultivate prospects for patron, sponsor and trust and foundation income
  • Ensure precise and up-to-date records on current and potential supporters and prospects are kept on Salesforce
  • Manage and lead the development team (Account Executive, Development Coordinator and Freelance Support)
  • Encourage them to identify and research prospects and new fundraising income streams
  • Ensure they are supported and motivated to perform to the best of their abilities
  • Work with the Development Co-ordinator to deliver high quality Patrons events including dinners, private views, studio visits and fair tours
  • Oversee a planned programme of high-quality bids to charitable trusts and foundations and statutory grant makers
