Simple trick could save you money in every duty free shop in the UK and abroad

Must read

A travel hack expert has dropped a bombshell tip to save airport goers a small fortune on their duty-free splurges. The Coupon Kid UK, Jordan Cox, divulged that penny pinchers should never shell out the full price for booze and confectionery products again.

The key? Simply get your hands on an app that could make your last-minute dash for holiday goodies significantly cheaper. Jordan hit up his Instagram followers with the inside scoop about how it all works.

He specified the app which will be your duty-free knight in shining armour: Red By Dufry. He said: “Never pay full price at duty free. There’s a trick to save you money on your Toblerones and perfumes.”

Eager bargain hunters need only to download Red By Dufry prior to their travel to clinch that five per cent discount at duty-free retailers, though smokers are out of luck as tobacco is exempt, reports the Mirror.

To snag your savings, flash the app’s QR code when you’re ringing up your haul. And better yet jetsetters in countries like Spain, the USA, Italy, and Greece can also tap into these sweet deals while abroad.

In his detailed caption, Jordan shared: “Heading on holiday soon? Use this trick to get 5% off at World Duty Free. Download an app called Red By Dufry. It’s basically a loyalty card owned by World Duty Free shops.

“Just for downloading and signing up, you get 5% off purchases in store – which can include your Toblerones, perfumes, alcohol, souvenirs and more. (Does exclude tobacco though).

“You get a QR code in the app, which works at U.K. airports, and some around the world too (including Spain, USA and Greece). If you spend large amounts at Duty Free shops, your discount can go up to 7 or 10% off too. But everyone that signs up gets 5% off.

“If you get a cheaper Toblerone – be sure to chuck us a piece.”

Red By Dufry is a loyalty programme that offers discounts at various participating stores, access to airport VIP lounges, and more. To accumulate points, shoppers must present their QR code every time they shop, which also contributes towards achieving a new status.

Kolkered simply stated: “Great timing. I fly Thursday.”

Daniel commented: “As I work for the company we literally have the code everywhere in the store and at the till so people can use them so this isn’t new news.”

Pilgrim_2_88 added: “There’s no such thing as ‘duty free’ the prices are still extortionate. WH Smiths in particular are a complete rip off at airports.”

Nathalie Kane said: “Worth a go!” Agita remarked: “Have been using it for years. Amazing savings.”
