Commuters are waking up to frosty weather conditions on the rails and roads this morning after snow and sleet fell overnight.
The cold snap has seen three yellow weather warnings for snow and ice put in place across Northern Ireland, the north of England, and northern and central Scotland.
National Rail is predicting the poor weather will impact trains until at least 2pm, mainly affecting routes on the Northern network.
There are no trains running between Nottingham and Worksop, with the lines closed in both directions while Network Rail investigate the rails.
Buses have replaced trains on some parts of the Transport for Wales network after the forecasted severe weather caused some lines to be suspended.
There has also been flooding in the Ulverston area which is causing delays to some trains running to and from Manchester Airport.
And in Sussex, there’s a fallen tree blocking the line near Crowborough.

Snow and ice impacting Northern network into the afternoon
Northern will be taking the brunt of today’s sleet and snow with several routes facing delays and cancellations throughout the day.
The following routes are currently being affected:
- Bradford Interchange – Huddersfield
- Hebden Bridge – Halifax (reduced number of peak services to Leeds)
- Halifax – Hull (these services will run only between Bradford Interchange and Hull)
National Rail said: ‘It is recommended that you check your entire journey before travelling, particularly if you are travelling through the Calder Valley, Southern Pennines or Peak District.’
