Stoke City condemn ‘tragedy chants’ directed at Tyrese Campbell

Must read

Stoke City have hit out at “sickening and unacceptable” tragedy chants during Saturday’s Championship game against Sheffield United.

It is understood the chants from “a small minority” of Stoke supporters were directed at Blades striker Tyrese Campbell, whose father, former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin, passed away in June.

The 24-year-old scored the second goal in United’s 2-0 victory at Bramall Lane but is a former Stoke player, making 164 appearances for the Potters.

“The club has a zero-tolerance approach to tragedy chanting and strongly condemns the abhorrent actions of the individuals involved,” said Stoke in a statement.
