Suzuki GSX-S1000GX review: UK to Sweden on a sports tourer

Must read

The plan was simple: 1,000 miles, five countries, and three days to test the touring credentials of Suzuki’s GSX-S1000GX.

Part sports bike, part touring motorcycle, part adventure bike, this hi-tech adventure tourer is the the most advanced production motorcycle Suzuki has ever made, being the Japanese manufacturer’s first bike to come equipped with semi-active suspension.

To put it to the test, I travelled from the UK to Sweden, via the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark, on a mix of motorway, fast A-roads, and sweeping country lanes to see how capable a touring bike it is.

So, could the GSX-S1000GX provide comfortable long-distance touring experience while also providing sporty thrills when the pace was upped?

Is it a viable option as touring bike for people who have no intention of going off road?

Most importantly, has Suzuki made a sports tourer that is worth your hard-earned cash? Especially when you consider it is up against competition from the likes of the BMW S 1000 XR, the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT, and the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT.
