Tata Chemicals Ltd on Thursday (June 6) said its subsidiary Tata Chemicals Europe Ltd, has been ordered by the Chester Crown Court in the United Kingdom to pay a fine of £1.1 million for a safety incident that occurred in 2016.
“…we hereby inform you that on June 5, 2024, the Chester Crown Court, United Kingdom (UK) ordered a fine of GBP 11,00,000 on Tata Chemicals Europe Ltd, the company’s subsidiary in the UK for a safety incident which occurred in 2016,” the company said in a stock exchange filing.

The incident involved a contractor who sustained injuries at one of the company’s sites in the UK, leading to his death a few weeks after being discharged from the hospital.
“This order relates to an incident of 2016 when a contractor sustained injury at one of the sites in the UK, and subsequently passed away unexpectedly a few weeks after his discharge from the hospital,” the company said.
Shares of Tata Chemicals Ltd ended at ₹1,062.20, up by ₹19.75, or 1.89%, on the BSE.
