The beautiful and tiny UK town that’s like the Notting Hill of the Midlands

Must read

The Royal Town of Leamington Spa is not necessarily where most people would head for a day out – but it’s definitely worth a trip.

The town is calm and quiet yet has a modern city buzz to it. It is located in Warwickshire and is easily accessible by train or car.

Leamington Spa has that classic English feel, you’ll be surrounded by grand white buildings and greenery which makes you feel like you’ve been transported to Notting Hill, the iconic area in west London.

It has a large park with water features, cafes, a band stand and activities throughout the year. Not only this but the town also has a large selection of independent restaurants, cafes and shops where you can take a break as you wander around the quaint streets.

One of the main places to visit is Jephson Gardens, which are beautiful to see in the summer months. The Victorian park is located at the heart of the town and is the perfect place to go as a family, alone, or with friends.

Inside the park, there is a glasshouse containing tropical plants, a goldfish pond and a cafe.

If you are visiting with children, there is also a play area. One visitor on Tripadvisor said: “I loved the elephants, greenhouse, bees, cafe, sensory park and lots of places to run around for kids. The bridge views are amazing and the river is beautiful from that point.”

One eye catching restaurant is Red Hot Mama, an authentic Italian with quirky decor. The restaurant has outdoor seating which is available in the form of colourful beach huts with fairy lights and bold wallpaper. This pizzeria serves Neapolitan Pizza and is made with a selection of high grade ingredients.

The town also has unique shops, one which stands out is Berrylune. This store originally opened its doors in 2012 and is a treasure trove of cards, homeware, stationery, natural beauty products and childrens toys. You will find special pieces in here to remember your trip by.
