The beautiful village in Spain just 26 miles from Magaluf but way prettier

Must read

Amidst the Tramuntana mountains on Majorca’s northern coast, is Deià, a dreamy village just 26 miles from Magaluf known for its stunning cerulean beach and artistic heritage.

Far removed from the flurry of tourists, Deià has long been a retreat for A-list celebrities, artists, and writers seeking privacy and inspiration.

Its winding cobblestone streets and centuries-old stone houses evoke a sense of timelessness, while its dramatic backdrop of mountains and the Mediterranean provide stunning views.

A short walk leads to Cala Deià, a secluded cove beach where visitors can enjoy seafood at beachfront restaurants. It is also at one of these restaurants, the Ca’s Patro March, where The Night Manager starring Tom Hiddleston, was filmed.

La Residencia, a luxury hotel formerly owned by Sir Richard Branson, attracts high-profile guests including Princess Diana who famously sought refuge here, as well as English poet Robert Graves. Other celebrities such as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Harry Styles, and Tom Hanks have also frequented this Mallorcan abode.

Sa Fonda, a local bar, draws a crowd with its informal late-night music, while more peaceful corners of the village invite a quiet evening by the sea.

A TripAdvisor review attested: “Perfect place to enjoy the sunset! Very easy going and nice staff, great atmosphere- rather hip/chillout/uncomplicated, very mixed, young, older people and families, local people and tourists, good music and burger with fries was fresh and delicious.”

Head to the idyllic Son Mico café run by two French sisters, for some excellent seafood and “amazing views of the Mediterranean and surrounding mountains,” added a user on Tripadvisor.

With its proximity to Palma and a palpable creative energy, Deià serves as a unique sanctuary away from the more popular hotspots burdened with overtourism.
