The Rocky Mountaineer is a Canadian rail line which takes passengers on a journey through some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes between April and October.
The two-day train journey, which starts off in Banff, takes passengers through the Canadian Rockies and ends in Vancouver, one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
The first stop Banff is full of forests and high snow-capped mountains that will take your breath away.
The train then takes you to a glacial lake in Banff National Park. Lake Louise is known for its clear blue waters that are framed by the mountains.
With the train’s glass-dome coaches, passengers can enjoy panoramic views from the comfort of their seats. The train also has an outdoor viewing area for anyone who would like to get closer to the scenery.
Castle Mountain between Banff and Lake Louise is one of the “memorable” landmarks that the train passes by. Early explorers named the mountain because of its captivating appearance, which was likened to a castle.
As the first day ends in the countryside of Kamloops, coaches take passengers to their hotel rooms to prepare for another exciting day of breathtaking views.
Rocky Mountaineer trains have no sleeper coaches as they offer “daylight rail journeys” but instead partner up with hotels to offer packages with hotel accommodation options before and after passengers’ rail journeys.
The next day begins at Kamloops Lake and takes passengers past various lakes and rivers, including Fraser River, one of Canada’s longest.
A few hours later, passengers are back in the mountains before the train passes through the Vancouver suburbs to bring the journey to an end.
The Rocky Mountaineer offers two services: SilverLeaf, described as “excellent”, and GoldLeaf, which is described as “extraordinary”. Prices start from £1,389 for the SilverLeaf class and £1,897 for the GoldLeaf.
