The incredible island with white-sand beaches where royals spend honeymoons

Must read

This beautiful part of the world is a place where many people see as paradise – so it’s no wonder royals and celebrities love it.

The Seychelles are known for being one of the ultimate beach breaks on offer with many seeing the destination as a holiday destination for the elite.

Prince William and Princess Kate famously took their honeymoon there, they stayed at North Island, a private island with 11 luxurious villas.

Prices at the resort start at £5,772 per night and increase to £9,086 for the most exclusive villa that is designed especially for honeymooners, and likely to be where William and Kate stayed.

Their resort is where another high profile couple chose to go on their honeymoon: George and Amal Clooney who also stayed there following their wedding in 2014.

The islands are scattered across the Indian Ocean and are known for their surreal look. National Geographic referred to the islands as “one of the most extraordinary vacations on Earth”.

If you’re looking for adventure or relaxation, the Seychelles has it all. There are a range of exciting water activities to take part in while holidaying on the islands such as sailing, diving, and fishing.

Mahé, Praslin and La Digue are the most popular islands – Mahé is home to 65 silver beaches, plus an array of restaurants, cafés, bars and casinos in the tiny capital, Victoria.

There are also multiple UNESCO World Heritage sites such as coral atoll Aldabra and Vallée de Mai, called the Garden of Eden.

Anse Source D’Argent is one of the most popular beaches on the islands. One visitor on Tripadvisor said: “I have never become bored with this experience of nature and its unspoiled beauty.

“It is truly exquisite and breathtakingly beautiful. The beach, natural rock formations, alcoves, and interesting botanical features make the experience memorable indeed! It’s marvellous to reach the fresh fruit cocktail bar stalls that’s unexpected.

“The underpinning excitement is going through the process of fresh fruit selection, and then enjoying the perfect fruit cocktail while kicking sand at the shoreline.”

Another great place to visit in the Seychelles is Morne Seychellois National Park. Away from the beaches, this park’s mountainous landscape makes for an exciting place to explore.

One visitor on Tripadvior said: “There are several walking trails up there which are clearly designated from the roadside, but we just drove through the mountain and stopped for some views.

“You need a car to get there […] if you have a vehicle, this is a must thing to do in Mahe. There is a curvy paved road, and you rarely meet another motorist up there, so you have the whole park by yourself.”
