This pretty UK town is the perfect place to enjoy a coastal winter walk – even in the colder weather, it still amazes people.
Deal, in Kent, is not overcrowded with tourists but instead is the perfect quiet town to enjoy a stroll around before heading out towards the coast.
According to Time Out, the walk from Deal to Sandwich Bay is a relatively easy 9-kilometre-long scenic walk that’ll take you about two hours.
If you’re missing getting out into nature now that the colder weather is here, there’s nothing like a windy seaside walk to blow the cobwebs away – and this one is perfect.
One visitor on Tripadvisor who walked along Deal beach said: “It is not as crowded as other beaches. You can find benches to sit down on or you can sit next to the sea and you still have plenty of space around you.”
After your walk, you can head back to Deal to enjoy the town. One must-visit place is Deal Castle, one of the most impressive Tudor artillery castles in England.
A visitor took to Tripadvisor to say: “A very interesting place to visit – definitely recommend! Although it looks impressive from the outside, it really does not do it justice – only when you get inside the castle do you realise how large and impressive it actually is.”
For lunch or dinner, there are a wide range of great places to eat – one popular place is the Deal Pier Kitchen. Or, you can try fresh, locally caught fish at one of Deal’s waterfront bistros or cosy eateries tucked away in the town centre.
Deal is located on England’s south east coast, it is around 20 minutes away from Dover and around 35 minutes from Canterbury.
If you’re looking to add some additional stops to your trip on your way to Deal, these places are where you should head to.
