Must read

Ever wondered what the longest amount of time you could be up in the air for?

Well, data from live air traffic website Flight Radar 24 has revealed the world’s top 10 longest commercial flights, with a load of them covering crazy distances.

Singapore Airlines flight operated by an Airbus A350-900ULR is currently the world’s longest commercial flight, covering 15,349 km from New York to Singapore. The flight that leaves New York and travels to Singapore, has a flight time of 18 hours and 50 minutes.

The airline was featured three times in the list, with journeys between Singapore and popular American destinations, including New York and LA.

Although it may have some of the world’s longest flights it is renowned as one of the world’s best carriers, so at least whilst passengers are up in the air for all those hours, they’ll be getting five-star treatment.

In close second place it is another flight by Singapore Airways, this time from New York’s Newark International Airport to Singapore’s Changai Airport.

The flight travels 15,344km in the air with a block time of 18 hours and 45 minutes from one of America’s most visited states. Leaving the airport at 10am before landing in Singapore at 5.10pm.

Qantas Airways was also featured multiple times on the list, all of which involved flights that were from to or from cities in Australia, including Melbourne and Perth.

Coming in at fourth place is a trip from Down Under to London Heathrow Airport by Qantas. The flight from Perth Airport in Australia travels just under 14,500 km to get all the way to Heathrow Airport with a scheduled duration of 17 hours and 25 minutes.

Surprisingly the shortest out of the ten flights isn’t even that much shorter compared to fourth place. In fact, the difference between the two is only three minutes.

Air India’s flight from San Francisco to Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport takes 17 hours and 22 minutes to cover the 14,004 km distance between the two airports, making it the longest Air India flight.
