‘Three children injured’ in horror attack outside kindergarten in Switzerland

Three children have been injured after being reportedly attacked by a man outside a kindergarten in Switzerland, local police have said. 

Swiss police launched a major operation after receiving reports of the suspected attack on Tuesday, October 1. 

The incident took place in Berninastrasse, northern Zurich, at approximately midday local time (11am BST).  

Police said to have arrested the man suspected of carrying out the “violent crime”. 

Zurich City Police said in a press release: “Shortly after twelve o’clock, the Zurich City Police were alerted to a violent crime on Berninastrasse. Three children were injured. 

“A suspect was arrested in connection with this.”

Police added there is “no longer any danger to the public” in light of the arrest. 

The children injured, all boys aged five, were among a group who were walking to the kindergarten accompanied by a staff member when the surprise attack happened. 

The staff member and another man quickly overpowered the suspect, the Daily Mail reports. 

Local residents claimed to have seen terrified parents rushing to the kindergarten to find their children after reports of the harrowing attack emerged.
