Tour around Switzerland ‘like a millionaire’ with £23 flights and cheap spa

Must read

A holidaymaker insists you can enjoy a luxury break in Switzerland on the cheap – and relax “like a millionaire”.

There’s nothing like jetting off somewhere abroad when you need a break. Whether it’s work stress, personal struggle, or your calendar has been stacked up with social plans that have left you knackered, we all need time to chill.

But, the reality is that between rising bills and the expensive cost of living, forking out on a fancy holiday often isn’t feasible.

But one woman recently flew to Geneva, Switzerland, for £23 and spent less than £50 a night on accommodation. The stunning city, which is filled with breathtaking views and plenty of historical treasures, is known for being one of the most expensive European city breaks, according to Weather 2 Travel.

But @petite.blondine, who often shares her best travel hacks and advice, disagrees as she shared “how to do a weekend in the most expensive country in the world, on a budget”.

The London-based travel editor took to her Instagram page and said: “A luxury weekend that doesn’t cost luxury money aka what the last few days in Geneva have looked like.”

She explained that she got on a £23 flight from the UK to Geneva, and visited an underground spa for less than £32 – featuring impressive pools with waterfalls. The travel lover found a historical hotel to stay in which costs £47 per person, per night. While visiting the exciting city, Emma was able to enjoy drinking wine through vineyards, and lunched on a luxury cruise named Belle Epoque.

Of course, you cannot visit Switzerland without trying its famous chocolate, so Emma made sure she got a ‘chocolate pass’ and ate her way through the city’s best chocolatiers. It only cost her £25.

The content creator also noted that the city’s transport for tourists is free. “This is how you do the city of millionaires without having to spend like one,” she added.

People rushed to the comments and insisted they are planning their own trips to Geneva, following Emma’s advice. “Wow,” said one. Another commented: “What a perfect little itinerary for a weekend away…that won’t break the bank!”

“Need to book a trip soon,” said another.

How to get to Geneva

There are a number of ways you can get to Geneva from the UK. You can catch a flight from London City Airport, Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport, Birmingham Airport, and Edinburgh Airport.

If you aren’t a keen flyer, a train from London to the city takes around seven hours. You can catch the Eurostar from St Pancras station that will stop in Paris, and then you can transfer to the TGV Lyria service to Geneva.

Another option is to catch the BlaBlaCar bus from London to Geneva.
