Chelsea’s surprise new target

Chelsea are interested in re-signing Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka, who joined the Blues’ academy at the age of 16 but failed to break into the first team during his three-year stint at Stamford Bridge.

Bulka made eight appearances for the West Londoners’ Under-18s and 19 for the Under-23s but was ultimately released.

However, L’Equipe now claim Chelsea are looking to potentially re-sign the Poland international.

Nice are determined to tie the 24-year-old down to a new deal, but the 6ft 6in keeper wants to quadruple his wages to £47,000-a-week.

Hurzeler linked with Brighton

St. Pauli manager Fabian Hurzeler has been identified as the leading candidate to replace Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton.

Hurzeler, who has just guided the German outfit to promotion in his first full season as boss, has been preparing himself for a move to English football.

During German football’s winter break six months ago the former Bayern Munich youth player took a trip over to England to take in the Premier League – and even managed a visit to Ally Pally for the World Darts Championship.

He watched title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City, but made sure a Brighton game was on the agenda.

But the 31-year-old, who would become the youngest ever permanent manager in Premier League history, has been doing his homework.

Hurzeler is a huge fan of De Zerbi’s work and has tried to use bits of the Italian’s innovation in his own teams – such as getting defenders to put their foot on the ball and draw opponents in.

Jamie Vardy’s new deal

Leicester legend Jamie Vardy has signed a new contract with his beloved club at the age of 38.

The Foxes confirmed Vardy signed a new one-year-deal, subject to Premier League approval.

The news will come as a huge boost to the Championship winners’ fans.

The ex-England international rolled back the years to hit 20 goals in 37 appearances, including four in the team’s final four Championship games as they clinched promotion in April.

However Wrexham fans will be gutted that Vardy won’t be joining them after Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney were linked with an audacious move.
