We have just crossed the border from Croatia into Bosnia and Herzegovina. There seems to be beautiful countryside everywhere and as we move closer to our destination, rugged mountains appear — which is quite appropriate as the translation of Medjugorje is ‘between mountains’.

I’m not typically one who enjoys being a passenger in a car (control freak, I know), but the two-hour journey from Dubrovnik to Medjugorje is a pleasant one, with beautiful scenery and helpful advice from our driver, Kristian.
