A 26-year-old man in the United Kingdom (UK) who was suspected of killing three women has been formally arrested, British media reported on Thursday (July 11) citing the police. Carol Hunt, 61, Hannah Hunt, 28, and Louise Hunt, 25, died at their home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday evening. The victims were the family members of BBC horse racing commentator John Hunt.
The police arrested Kyle Clifford from Enfield in north London. He was charged with three counts of murder. Earlier, a huge search was launched for the 26-year-old man.
“Following extensive enquiries, the suspect has been located and nobody else is being sought in connection with the investigation at this time,” Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins from the local Major Crime Unit said in a statement.
Suspect found with injuries
According to the police, Clifford was found in north London and was receiving medical treatment after being found with injuries. No shots were fired by police, the statement added.
The police also said they believed that Clifford was known to the victims.
Earlier on Wednesday Chief Superintendent Jon Simpson called the incident “horrific”, telling reporters a crossbow and possibly other weapons were believed to have been involved.
PM Starmer expresses condolences
In a statement, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed condolences over the attack. Prime Minister Starmer also said the government would look at legislation about crossbows, as previously suggested by Home Secretary Yvette Cooper.
On Thursday, A vigil for the victims was held at St James’ Church in Bushey.
