The team at OLBG have created the ‘Holiday Entertainment Index’ to profile the best destinations to visit this summer.
The index considers the number of activities per location including amusements, the cost to stay there, average weather patterns, and more, using data from Tripadvisor, Google, and Kayak.
OLBG ranked the top ten most popular holiday destinations based on their annual google searches. Weymouth came fourth on the list with 58,580 google searches in the last year.
Blackpool tops the list as the most popular destination with 81,600 searches, closely followed by St Ives with 80,600 searches. Great Yarmouth beat Weymouth to third place with 68,010 searches.
The town has drawn crowds for its entertainment events, such as the recent Leggomen sunset gig on Weymouth promenade, with more than 1,000 people flocking to the seaside.

He described this ranking as a “fitting achievement” for the Weymouth area.
Mr Watson added: “The live music scene in Weymouth is second to none. Even the live music in London isn’t as thriving as the scene in Weymouth in my opinion. It’s great to be a part of that and be a venue people want to come to and get involved.
“We’ve seen things get busier this holiday season and it’s great to see families and people of all ages get involved and enjoy the entertainment space we have.
“There’s a really eclectic group of people who live in Weymouth and the fact that we’ve got a beautiful coastline as well draws a lot of people here.”
This is the latest win for Weymouth as earlier this year the beach was rated as the best in the UK by TripAdvisor.
Weymouth based holiday park, Waterside Holiday Group, was also recommended by Which? as one of the top holiday park providers beating big name holiday park brands such as Center Parcs, Haven Holiday Parks and Butlins.
A popular town festival also made a national list with the Dorset Seafood Festival being named among the top ten food festivals in the UK on the Condé Nast Traveller website.
