Snow and ice yellow weather warnings are in place for much of Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as parts of northern England.

Meanwhile, rain warnings are in place for huge swathes of central and southern England and much of Wales.

As part of this, more than 100 flood warnings and 260 flood alerts have even been issued in England and Wales.

The Environment Agency said it is monitoring swollen rivers around the UK as some are near to bursting their banks, BBC News reports.

Travel could be impacted around the UK amid weather warnings

Many commuters will be travelling for work on Monday morning and the weather could have an impact on that.

National Rail is asking customers to check before travelling, as various routes in England, Scotland and Wales are affected by the poor weather.

Some operators are still impacted by incidents from previous weather issues from last week, it says.

While these operators are not impacted by the weather at present, it advises to check services which could later be impacted on GWR services,  ScotRail services, TransPennine Express service and Northern services.

Additionally, National Rail is warning that flooding on the railway between Derby and Long Eaton is blocking all lines towards Nottingham.

Sky News reports that roads are starting to feel the impact of the adverse weather conditions.

A stretch of the A46 has been shut in both directions due to flooding, Warwickshire Police has said.

The northbound section has been shut at Sherbourne and Longbridge, while the southbound section has been shut from Stanks to prevent traffic entering.

Meanwhile, Surrey Police said the M25 has been closed anti-clockwise between Junction 10 (A3) and Junction 8 (Reigate) with a temporary diversion in place following a single-vehicle collision.

The force said a lorry collided with the central reservation just before midnight, with diversions expected to be in place until this evening.
