You can rent incredible private jet home sitting on lake – but it’s not cheap

An old aircraft has been ingeniously converted into a luxurious living space, now available for rent.

With the rise of unique accommodation options for travellers, Airbnb has become a treasure trove of distinctive properties. One such property that captured the hearts of many is an aeroplane house.

Step back in time to 1956 with this DC-6 air freighter, which was used for over 50 years to transport essential goods and fuel to remote Alaskan villages, as per owner Jon.

From the outside, the plane, located on a private airstrip in Wasilla, appears like any other ready-to-fly aircraft. However, stepping inside reveals a lavish dining room and kitchen, a cosy living area, two bedrooms, a spacious bathroom, and even access to the cockpit. Additionally, guests can savour breathtaking views from a deck built on one of the plane’s wings – perfect for a barbecue session.

Owner Jon recently gave a tour of his unique property on TikTok, under page @supercarblondie.xtra.

He revealed: “The inspiration to build this house came out of the fact that lumber was crazy expensive to build a regular house – and half the house is already built if you have an aeroplane.”

The entrance to this extraordinary home is via a flight of stairs leading to the ‘Mud Room’, which provides access through the cargo loading door. “You’ll find your washer and dryer there and a hallway to access the master suite, full bathroom, and guest bedroom, as well as the kitchen moving forward, living area, dining room, and cockpit,” Jon elaborated.

Jon was adamant about maintaining many of the plane’s original features while ensuring it felt like a home from the inside. Discussing the bathroom, he said: “We didn’t want to skimp on the bathroom, we wanted to have a real bathroom and a real shower. I did not want it to feel like you are in last class on the aeroplane.”

Both bedrooms boast large beds and televisions. However, the cockpit remains untouched so visitors can appreciate its authenticity.

Staying in this aviation-themed abode will cost between $300 [£223.87] and $700 [522.41] per night, depending on the season. Over 1,000 people were quick to comment on the property.

One person described it as “an amazing piece,”, while another expressed: “I would love to live there, permanently, if I was rich – wow.”

Another added: “This is insanely impressive.”
